Dani Timmins: Do I look stupid?
Scenario
The psychic tries to uncover the truth behind his sister’s murder at the crime scene. All the oddities consisted of elements “chosen from horror tropes” by Mc Carthy. The Woodman was inspired by the Jewish folklore of the golem, a large clay figure that can be brought to life through rituals at the command of its creator. Dani Timmins: [who is blind] I have no idea what you look like.
You sound stupid
Yana: Excuse me? Dani Timmins: Do I look stupid? Yana: No. Dani Timmins: My sister and I were identical, so that must mean she didn’t look stupid.
There’s Harry Bird’s river
967: here (2024). By Harry Bird and Rubber Wellies on Hot Drop Records. I like watching a horror movie without knowing too much about it. I’ve seen a trailer a couple of times that didn’t reveal too much of the plot.
But we still wanted to see it
The setting is simple…a cottage in the Irish countryside where the filmmakers can create a terrifying atmosphere for the audience, and they did a great job of making me feel like myself. The small Cast allows for depth to the characters, especially Carolyn Bracken, who gives the film a very macabre flavor. As the plot progresses, it starts to feel somewhat familiar… in a good way. But while it doesn’t break the bank of other films in the genre, the filmmakers and the cast make it feel fresh.
You’ll still get a few well-executed jump scares
If you like an atmospheric slow burn, you’ll appreciate this movie. and maybe even a few laughs (in a good way).
